Farewell, Thanks and A Special Offer
The costumes are cleaned, hammers are quiet, theatres all packed up and the actors have headed home ... or in the case of The Butler cast, to London ... Hamilton’s Fuel Festival of New Zealand Theatre is over for another year.
Thanks to all those who came to laugh, cry and experience the magic of live theatre. The programme this year reflected the best of on the stage in New Zealand today and we were thrilled to bring it to Hamilton. Here’s a taste of the reviews and feedback we’re received:
“... not even Ten Guitars is left untouched.” – Waikato Times on Le Sud
“The audience walk out knowing they loved it, but having no idea what just happened.” – Waikato Times on The Butler
“It is impossible to watch this and not care – this is how theatre should be.” – Waikato Times on SALON
And our favourite from an audience member ...
“I took my six year old daughter to see the Bubbles and Mustard Show. The most amazing aspect was on the way home when she started talking about writing her own show like this. Once home she proceeded to write three pages of a show about Salt and Pepper, the cat and dog. Throughout the script she wrote the noise effects she needed her audience to make in little vertical stacks of words. As a parent I’m always looking for ways to ‘light her fire’ so to speak, and the Bubbles and Mustard Show did just this.” – Nicola
The next Fuel Festival is in May next year – the Fuel Festival of New Zealand Music. We’ve launched a new Fuel Patrons scheme as a fabulous way to provide ongoing support to the festival. Details are on the website www.fuelfest.co.nz
Meanwhile, our friends at Indian Ink Theatre Company are offering Fuel Festival fans the opportunity to book early for their upcoming Hamilton season of The Guru of Chai and receive a $5 discount on all adult tickets. The Guru of Chai is at Meteor Theatre 5-10 October.
